Top O’ the Mornin’

It’s May, the birds are chirping, flower are bloomin, and it’s time to go skiing this morning. On the snow by 8 I toured up a ridge. A veritable ghost-town. No other cars on the highway and no snowmobiles to be heard. I had the mountains to myself. About 200 yards up the hill I came upon some fresh black bear tracks. I followed them to the top of the ridge, looking up to catch my breath and to see if I was catching up to the “lil” fella. I got to the top of the ridge and the tracks went down and into the distance. Armed with only a turkey on rye, I decided to stay atop the ridge and watch a squall come in from the West. On my ski down on the adjacent ridge I came across more bear tracks which I followed to a tree. I’m thinking he was in the tree and I scared him out when I was skinning up. Within two hours I was doing yard work and sweating while wearing a t-shirt. A good way to spend a Saturday. Idaho gets 2 gold stars and a slap on this ass for this May Day.

Deforestation

From time to time rogue branches lead to my arborist skills being called upon. Beigedown sent the word of such outlaw limbs. I grabbed my 24″ Stihl and handsaw, then hopped on my bike headed to the LZ. In the end, these limbs were too much for the audacity of the 24″ Stihl. And even though, my handsaw has teeth gnarlier than a meth head, it couldn’t defeat these pesky branches. These were Level Midnight twigs, the kind that can only be torn down with flannel shirts and bailing twine. Not sure on the video quality, I think there was a swarm of locusts overhead and a Sasquatch ran through at 0:14. Made a note to put new camera in the AP.com 2010 fiscal budget.

PS. This is probably only funny if you were there. Sorry you read it.

Thinkin Problem

The year was 1994 and David Ball catapulted to #2 on the charts with “Thinkin Problem” While it was a money song I refrain from calling Ball a one hit wonder. I only classify hits as reaching #1 on the charts. I mention this tune because I have a thinkin problem, although it isn’t about some lassie I obsess over. Instead my mind jumps around more than Leonel Marshall on a volleyball court. I tend to envision or think about the absurd and impossible and block out the monotony of the 9-5 lifestyle. Most times even if I had the Hubble telescope surgically implanted into my cerebellum I still think I’d have trouble focusing on everyday tasks. To me there is always something bigger, better, badder, and butteryer. Whether I’m a “dreamer”, “ADHD dude”, “goofball”, or “tool” it’s my new mission to channel these thoughts and ambitions into a station of unlimited possibilities. And for that I’ll need a new life universal remote. A new way to look at pursuing my dreams and say screw the rest. This may sound cheesier than nachos at a baseball game but my greatest fear in life is being disappointed with my past…..Oooh a shiny object, gotta go.

Shred the Couch Brah!!!!

In anticipation of ski season I am sitting on the couch and thinking about exercices I should be doing to get ready to rip the crud. Here’s an example of an easy exercise to do, single leg squats. Ok back to my Coors Light and Office DVD.
